Hi, Im David H from New Mexico....I am from Mt.Vernon, OH. I ride a trike for many reasons: 80% loss in both hands, double by-pass surgery last Oct., and a stroke last week....I just rode 6 miles today...last year I rode 1500 miles.

I am the only handicap person in the nation to be LCI certified on a trike. I teach Safe Cycling to all ages, and ride every chance I get...

I ride a custom modified TRICE Q-NT w/11-34 rear and 27/42/52 front with X-9 thumb shifters, locking trunk, Garmin 305 GPS, wrist wrests, Windwrap ferring, and it's metalic purple....nice ride.

Has over 2000 miles on the Marathon+ tires, with NO FLATS (we have lots of goat heads here) recumbent

Welcome to the forum David. Sorry to here about all your misfortune and I hope things start to look up for you. The Trice Q-NT is a nice ride, I have several friends that are riding them. Hope to see some pictures sometime if you get a chance. Smile

TrikerDaveNM;

Glad to know those Marathon Plus tires live up to their advertising. I have them on my Trice Q and have about 2,000 miles on them.

It's also great to know that you were able to get on your trike so soon after your stroke.

What are wrist wrests?

Hello
After renting and gawking at Recumbents for several years I bought a Sun Tomahawk Demo from Surf n Cycle in Xenia, O.
I have never done a "Meet Up" for recreation before but I am wanting to meet those who own
Recumbents to ride, to hear, to read and to learn more.

I am loving the bike.
I bike in my area located 8 miles SW of Columbus,O.
I don't see any 'Bents around here and I don't know anyone in my Area who owns a recumbent.
Feeling a bit ignorant also about the mechanics and accessories to buy for recumbent...

Off the top of my head, what bike rack would be best for my 2003 Honda Odyssey to transport my Tomahawk? My Bell 2 bike carrier SCARES ME!!

Oh by the way:
My husband likes the Bent Bikes but says he won't switch from his upright unless we can find a second hand bike for his lean 6 foot self.
Sure hope this is an active forum! I will help the best I can.
Patti G

Hi Patti G,

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here. It's not a very active forum yet but I think that will change when people stop lurking and start posting. The forum is relatively new and it takes some time for things to get going and membership and posting seems to be picking up a bit and every member helps. Again Welcome.

HI, I bought a Sun Tadpole three years ago and am a very enthusiastic bent rider. I watched the Race Across Ameria with great interest and was delighted to see the Bents do well(came in ahead of all other 4 person teams and ahead of 6-- 8 person teams, only two behind the leaders). I ride mostly on the Olentangy Bike Trails and see a few bents there. Like to ride with the Scouts of Toop 613 and enjoy taking off from work and hitting the trails.. The Sun is heavy and low geared and I lilke to go faster so will probably hunt for a Catrike Speed of some such.

Hi, Im new to the recumbent world.I just orderd that inexpensive hyper insight that walmart has to get my feet wet before spending the big bucks.I like the looks of this site ,I know it will be a hit .I will post some pictures and let you all know how the bike is when I get it.

11My Intro Empty Hi everybody! Fri Jun 11, 2010 10:23 pm

Steve from Ohio

This is Steve from Northeast Ohio. I used to have a Sun recumbent Speedster CX and I put a Golden Eagle bike engine on it. Rode it for two years and about 15K miles. I wore out several sets of tires and used it heavily when gas went to over $4 a gallon. It got almost 200 miles per gallon.

This last spring I cannibalized the Speedster for parts for my home made tadpole trike. It was a blast building and I recently took it out for a test ride. It rides great and is a lot more fun than even the Speedster to ride.

I am going to be building a trailer for it and do some traveling with it. I will have some photos of it soon. Right now I am testing it to make sure everything is right before I paint it.

Great site and hope to be a regular here.
